She looked at her reflextion and smiled. It didn’t matter who would see, she felt pleased by what she was seeing. Her hair was still damp from the shower, the morning sun giving her barely tanned complexion a golden tint. She was content. She didn’t do it on purpose, but when she looked at herself she saw she was wearing the makeup look she gave one of the characters in her books. She remembered it like it was yesterday, apricot shimmery eyeshadow, eyelaner, mascara and cherry lipstick. It was divine. It looked splendid on her heroinne in her mind’s eye, but it looked even better on her.
She loved days like these, days when she felt pretty again. She had gained quite a few kilos over the course of six years which resulted in her rarely feeling pretty, let alone sexy. She knew that the beauty of her face was almost untouched, but the extra weight rounded it a bit, even so, the parts of it she loved the most stayed the same – eyes and lips. She took any chance she got to enhance those features. She had dark brown eyes, sometimes of a chestnut colour, sometimes the colour of dark chocolate, and she loved them the most. The fact that those were hooded eyes didn’t ruin it for her in the slightest. She had a wedding coming up, the wedding – her wedding. It was of the utmost importance to lose at least twenty kilograms. She knew the way, but it was stomach-turning to even think about that. She remembered the agony. She remembered the hunger. She remembered it all, but it was important to lose weight, and so she will.
As her journey on the bus came to an end signified by the aforementioned wehicle crossing a bridge over a world famous river, she looked to her left and saw the shimmering, glittering gold spilling and rolling over the surface, and she felt calm and pretty, and so the smile stayed on her face until her head hit the pillow that night.
